"Jedi" Spinel

The Force is strong with this one. In the early 2000s, deposits of highly-fluorescent hot pinkish red spinels were discovered in Namya, Myanmar (formerly known as Burma). Soon after, they were discovered in Mogok, Myanmar. Dubbed "Jedi" spinel because they are untouched by the “dark side” [don't have dark tone], these gems are highly sought-after for their vivid glow. Compare the difference in tone and saturation between the piles of "Jedi" spinel on the left and classic red Mogok spinel on the right.
